On the New House

How I got here

Welcome to the next chapter! Unlike my decision to move to Charleston that had been in the works for a while, this move snuck up on me a little bit quicker. My Charleston lease was always only for a year (the current owners are renovating and selling the home), and I was heavily undecided on whether or not to stay in Charleston. I did truly love the city – between the history, agricultural beauty and proximity to the coast, there isn’t much to not love. However, I was spending a couple of weekends a month at home visiting family, and didn’t quite feel like Charleston was the exact right fit for me at this time in my life.

I told myself that if the perfect place popped up in Raleigh, I’d consider moving home. Needless to say, the universe heard me, and within the next couple of days, I found this house. I was in love the second I saw it. The kitchen, the breakfast nook, the fireplace – and not to mention all the outdoor space to play with. I feel like this next chapter is less about the location of my home, but rather the people who can fill it. I’m looking forward to many evenings hosting friends and family and reconnecting with a city I used to call home.

Looking forward to

I am so excited to have a yard and a garden – be prepared for me to fully enter my Martha Stewart era and put my green thumb to the test! I already have my list of seeds on order to plant in the spring, and can’t wait to (hopefully) cook with some homegrown produce this year. Otherwise, I’m on the hunt for a few specific pieces of furniture, and am honing in on my overall aesthetic for this house. Lots of projects in the pipeline – can’t wait to share more!

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kind words and those who have welcomed me home, so happy to be here! xx
