Finds for the New House

This house is double the size of my last apartment, so it’s no surprise I need a few extra pieces here and there to help fill the space. I’m challenging myself to use everything I already have – just in new ways. If a lamp was in my bedroom in my last apartment, I want to put it in the living room. Pillows and artwork have found new combinations in different spaces, and so far, I love how it’s coming together.

Once room identities take shape, it’s easier for me to tell where I need to fill in the gaps. This home has three or four dining spaces (depending on how I decided to use the space)… and I only had one small dining table. I’m also eyeing lots of outdoor items — a whole new world for me! I wanted to share a few of the items I’ve either already purchased for the new house or that are in my cart and coming in the next few weeks. Hopefully it will be fun to watch it all come together in real time!

newest additions —

I’m always smitten by hammered glass – the light reflects so beautifully within it. These hurricane holders will be perfect out on the screen porch/deck in the summer.

These have been my dream chairs for years! I purchased a set for the breakfast nook table, but can imagine them being used in a living room or screen porch for years to come.

I’m a huge terracotta fan… these planters have been my go-to for years, but I also love this edition that Potterybarn came out with. I’m also imagining filling these wicker baskets with hydrangeas and french lavender once I can plant outside. For those who have asked about my Myrtle topiaries, I’ve ordered from this Etsy shop before and had success! My others are from a variety of local plant shops (Trellis in Raleigh, Hyam’s & Abide-A-While in Charleston). I stocked up before I moved!

Speaking of plants, I stumbled across this this iron table and immediately imagined it as a potting table/bar for the screen porch. Day to day, it will be great to house some planters, but it can also double as a surface area when I’m hosting. I think the detail on it is so beautiful! I’m also thinking of using this table on the screen porch to have a small dining space – TBD!

I’ve definitely been moving away from brass these last couple of years, and am excited to invest in a couple new light fixtures – these sconces for the breakfast nook area and this lamp for a bar cabinet… coming soon! Both look so sleek and sophisticated.

Another silver find I’m loving are these condiment sleeves. Never in my life have I heard of such a thing, but suddenly I need them… the scallop detail screams my name.

I’m hoping to incorporate this ruffle ottoman (or one similar) into my dining space. I’ve been brainstorming a few ideas and a green stripe needs to work its way into the design scheme… we will see how this turns out!

Last but not least, this is my signature scent for this house! I shared on stories that I like to pick a scent for each space I move into, so that scent can always make me nostalgic for that period of my life. That doesn’t mean it’s the only candle I’ll ever light in the house, but it will be my go-to when I’m in between other scents. It’s called White Gardenia by Williams Sonoma Home (love the dish soap also!).
