There’s nothing more quintessential summer than a throwing a Low Country Boil feast for friends and family. I have been itching to host one ever since renovating my sunroom and absolutely love how it came together! Here are a few details from the day that made the celebration extra beautiful and special.
Setting the Scene
Low country boils are typically laid back and casual – but I opted to dress the table up a bit and really lean into the theme with some fun accessories. I wanted to go for a coastal blue and yellow theme for this dinner party with lots of natural elements. I think the key to an interesting tablescape is having lots of layers and textures – my formula is a beautiful tablecloth, chargers, stacked plates, accent dishes and beautiful platters and topping that off with a contrasting napkin in an fun fold – I went with kind of undone knots for this look.
For the florals, I kept them really simple with Queen Anne’s Lace (my absolute favorite), as if I’d just gone out into the yard to pick some for the table and scattered them about in mini mason jars. I layered them on top of newspaper – to give just a touch of that laid-back rustic feel.
I layered on a few more playful accents that fit the theme – I love the fish platters and salt and pepper shakers… and the shell candle was the perfect easy centerpiece. Everything came together so beautifully!
The Boil Itself
Setting the table is my specialty, so I decided to let the professionals do the cooking. If you’re local to Charleston, I ordered ready to cook meal kits from Low Country Boil Company. Their Ready-to-Cook Low Country Boil Meal Kits and Boil Buckets are prepared with jumbo shrimp, house-smoked andouille sausage, redskin potatoes, and sweet corn on the cob layered together and generously seasoned with a custom boil blend. Each serving comes with house-made cocktail sauce, creamy southern coleslaw, and fresh-baked cornbread muffins. All I had to do was just heat it up in the provided alloy steel boil bucket and and dinner was ready in less than thirty minutes.
