As I write this, I’m still surrounded by dozens of moving boxes, but I am so excited to finally be in my new Charleston home. I fell in love with so many of the historic quirks of the apartment, but the living room having the exact fireplace I pictured was the cherry on top. For months, I had been saving images of rooms that really spoke to me. Once I had a good collection, I compiled all those images onto a Canva board, noted the similarities between them, and used that as a template for what I was looking for when picking and designing my next place.
I’ll be sharing those with you one by one as I design my new apartment, but for now, here is what I realized I was drawn to within a living space –
Living Room Characteristics
White fireplace, black insert
Warm white walls
Set of armchairs, velvet & wood
Natural textured rug
Striped upholstery furniture
Vases of greenery
Layered artwork
Here is a look at where I’m starting from… the bones of what I want are definitely there! I’m in love with the natural light, the tall ceilings and original molding detailing. I’ll be keeping as much of my same furniture as possible, while sprinkling in a few new pieces to help achieve that Nancy Meyers/natural textures with pops of color vibe I’m going for.
A sneak at some of the new pieces I’m eyeing – stay tuned to see it all come together!
Your plans for a Charleston apartment living room sound like they’re shaping up to be a beautiful blend of style and Southern charm! Charleston’s historic influence and coastal vibe offer a unique canvas for creating a space that feels both elegant and welcoming.
